Prado Day Center Receives Generous Donation
Outset: Public Policy Solutions
The Unitarian Universalist Cordiality of San Luis Obispo County donated over $500 to the Prado Day Center last month as part of their newly established Community Outreach Contribution. Each second Sunday, the plate offering goes to a nearby non-profit, helping local folks. The Fellowship presented the bequest along with many needed supplies for the Prado Day Center at the recent Friends of Prado Day Center Room meeting.
"It's truly wonderful to see so many generous people be supportive of the Prado Day Center. We are deeply touched that the congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association has been so generous in their support," said Paul Wolff, Co-President of the Friends of Prado Day Center.
The Unitarian Universalist Congeniality has long been a participant in People's Kitchen and the homeless overflow night-time shelter programs. This donation, along with the monthly Community Outreach Gift, is another extension of the Fellowship's mission to care for those who have less in the San Luis Obispo community.
Elizabeth Warren May Be Gone, but the Agency She Built Lives On
If the American Sinistral has a Joan of Arc, her name would be Elizabeth Warren. The Harvard professor was the interior decorator and creator of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the unrestricted regulatory agency that was given the power to regulate every economic transaction in America without proper checks and balances from Congress.
The blueprint was for Warren to head the Bureau and conduct a reign of regulatory brute on the economy. But even President Obama got cold feet. Warren was too inherent to be confirmed by the Democrat-controlled Senate. So Warren picked her replacement, Ohio Attorney Assorted Richard Cordray, packed her bags back to Massachusetts and declared a run for the US Senate.
The nerve of power and the ignorance of history may be the best way to describe Warren and the regime agency she concocted. The philosophy behind the Bureau is basic – the learned and intelligencia must control the marketplace in not cricket c out of commission to protect the simple-minded.
Dierbergs Supplies 'Operation Food Search' With 2 Million Lbs. Of Food
Dierbergs Markets contributed nearly 2 million pounds of food to
“Operation Food Search” (OFS) — the largest distributor of free
food to those in need in the St. Louis bi-state region — during
2009.
The family-held chain’s total donations came to 1.9 pounds of
unsold or overstocked foods from 23 stores and its central kitchen
and baking facility, which becomes part of OFS’ monthly
distributions to a network of 250 community partner agencies,
including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, orphanages and
senior centers. Each month, more than 120,000 people in the area,
nearly half of whom are children, receive food assistance through
this network.
St Louis-based Dierbergs’ donations amount to about 9 percent of
OFS’ annual collection of more than 22 million pounds of food and
household items each year. During its 2009 fiscal year ended Sept.
30, the program received food donations from about 245 companies,
restaurants and community organizations in a 10-state region. The
food is then exclusively distributed to the needy throughout
Missouri and Illinois.
Each Dierbergs store, on average, donates more than 82,000 pounds
of food annually to OFS, the equivalent of three-quarters of a ton
per store, per week year-round. On a per-store basis, that’s more
than any other food retailer supporting OFS.
As its first supermarket partner, Dierbergs’ relationship with OFS
dates to the charitable organization’s earliest days of
incorporation as a nonprofit agency in 1981. In addition to making
food donations, the regional independent also hosts customer food
drives throughout the year during peak times of need.
“Dierbergs has a long history with our organization,” said Sunny
Schaefer, executive director of St. Louis-based OFS. “From the
