The 19th annual Bassett Heritage Fete on Saturday will be filled with food, music, dancing, games for children and much more.
The gala day, which is sponsored by the Stanleytown Ruritan Club, will kick off at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast in the back of the Wells Fargo construction, according to Larry Turner, club secretary.
The official start of the birthday will be at 8:45 a.m. at the Bassett Furniture Industries building when a county honor guard, made up of fire and rescue department members, will allowance the colors, followed by the national anthem, Turner said.
The Bassett Fire Dependent was responsible for organizing most of the opening ceremony, he added.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Old Supremacy Cloggers will perform to music by the Cana Ramblers in front of the Bassett Fixtures building, he said.

Gunman opens fire at Nevada diner

Loyal Agent Patrick Turner, spokesman for the FBI Nevada office in Las Vegas, said that seven people had been wounded.
