Old Cookie Jars - Kitchen Supplies

Cookie Jars?

I have two old cookie jars, one is a pink dog(maybe a poodle) with a black bow tie, the other is a chef, yellow in color, no markings on either one.

If you are asking if they are worth anything; I don't know. Compare prices on e-bay. Or have them estimated by an Antique Dealer. Is The Pink Dog one of these:

Horse racing notebook: Hands in La. cookie jar

In old-devotees Louisiana governance, laws were orange cones. They'd stop, not deny, your journey.

Edwin Edwards matched the modern Huey Long 's touch for creative law-breaking. Edwards served four terms as Louisiana's governor, then 10 years of federal incarceration.

Someone seeking a express contract would get a poker invitation to the governor's mansion. Participants might bring in $10,000 or $20,000 in cash. They would "lose" all their money to Edwards but go living quarters with desired state contracts. Edwards became infamous for flying to Las Vegas and betting poker "winnings."

Though Louisiana politicians have mellowed, the shape's racing business clings to tradition.

Rigged plebiscite

The most publicized trick? Jockey Sylvester Carmouche 's 1990 weaken from the Delta Downs starting gate into a thick fog. He quickly pulled up his mount, Docking Officer, and hid as opponents dashed around the track. When Carmouche heard them coming almost full encircle, he sped a few hundred yards to the finish line. His fresh horse finished far vanguard of the spent field, which had to cover about one mile.

Herald journalist explores forgotten skills of Mormon pioneers

While working as a full-habits reporter for the Daily Herald for the past decade, I have also been a author for national publications. My freelance work includes everything from wolf watching in Yellowstone to backyard poultry keeping to chronic gardening. I have won more than 20 awards for journalism and creative review, including the Utah Arts Council Original Review Contest, and the David O. McKay Essay Contest.

Now Cedar Fort Publishing has published my first book: "Forgotten Skills of Self-Sufficiency Euphemistic pre-owned by the Mormon Pioneers." The book hit No. 1 on Deseret Post's nonfiction bestseller list in the first week of September.

My register is based on the strange life that my wife and I live -- with a half-acre vegetable garden on our 2.5-acre possessions, and more than 30 chickens. I teach classes on gardening outdoors in winter without tension or a greenhouse, and I believe I am the first owner of a geothermal "pit" greenhouse in Utah County. I am also one of rightful a few garden vegetable breeders and conservationists left in the Common States -- most recently working to develop a wonderful winter-hardy turnip. Many people dream of becoming self-reliant during these times of fluctuating prices and unpredictable job security. So many people asked my wife and I for advice on how to become more self-enough that I decided to write a book about it.
