Kitchen Salt Containers - Kitchen Supplies

How do you get kitchen salt to unharden and return to normal.?

I have about 20 containers of normal salt and they all went hard as a rock. How can I get it back to a usable form?

It's from moisture. Put some raw rice in the containers (and also your salt shakers). The rice will keep the salt from sticking together, but can't fit out the small holes in the salt shakers

Small appliances make easy work in the kitchen

Mountford, a discussion leader and former manager at the "cooking for one or two" forum on eons.com, an online community for child boomers, says items such as a toaster oven, a microwave and a humdrum cooker can make easy work of small meals.

TOASTER OVEN

The toaster oven is Mountford's go-to vehicle in the kitchen when she's not hosting friends for dinner. She often roasts vegetables in her toaster oven along with a chicken teat or fish for a quick meal.

Mountford says the key to using a toaster oven for cooking is getting one capacious enough to hold small cookie sheets, which are perfect for a few vegetables or a interest of meat.

"I use it at least once a day," Mountford says of her Cuisinart-brand toaster oven.

Although her toaster oven doesn't have a convection oven high point, she nsays it works fine. But she says the toaster oven must have a thermostat so you can dominance temperatures, particularly if you use it for roasting.

For vegetables, slice up some squash, peppers and potatoes, or anything you present, sprinkle with grapeseed or olive oil, add salt and pepper and put them in a 425-considerably toaster oven until caramelized to your liking.

Flavor fall and winter by preserving herbs | Philadelphia Inquirer | 2011-09-07

Uncompromising herbs work best: sage, thyme, rosemary, oregano, summer savory, lemon verbena, or lavender. And you can do this with herbs from your garden or with trust in-bought fresh herbs.

Pick just after the morning dew has dried, but before the impassion of the day. Rinse and pat dry gently with kitchen towels.

Remove leaves from the bottom of the grow or branch and bundle together loosely (four to six stems per bunch). Tie with a wreath and hang out of direct sun, in a place protected from rain. Look for a single out in the garage, attic, or kitchen with good air circulation. Small bunches of herbs hanging from a pot torture look great in the late summer kitchen.

Another option is to spread the herbs in a dissolute-weave basket tray or screen and dry them flat.

Or, use the brown certificate bag method. This works well for herbs with delicate leaves and flowers, or motive heads such as fennel or chamomile. Put them in a loosely tied letter-paper bag so the flowers, seeds or fine leaves are contained.
