Jeanine Matlow: Streetwise Solutions Staging helps a home give right dent
When it's time to sell your home, some of the details — like locale — are set in stone. But you can stage your interiors to boost the plead to buyers. The best part is that you don't have to invest a lot of time or money to get it well.
Just ask Rebecca Meisner, associate broker with Coldwell Banker Weir Manuel in Birmingham, who has been in the unfeigned estate business for 25 years.
"When I do staging for my clients, I try to reuse whatever they have and declutter without spending any folding money. People are already losing so much money in this market. I have a fresh eye because I don't fare there," says Meisner, who offers basic staging services as a civility to her clients.
Unless she has to hire someone to move heavy furniture, the technique can take as little as an hour or so. "Staging is one of my strengths. It's immediate delight. I know what buyers are looking for and you only get to make one first impression," Meisner says.
