24.09.11
Excessive price HELOISE: When I light candles in my home, I immediately go to the front door and shrink from a dish towel on the doorknob. It is a reminder to extinguish all candles before leaving the dynasty. I also use candles only in glass containers.
Flo C., Baton Rouge, La.
Prized FLO: Flo, that's an interesting way to signal to yourself, as long as you are "clued" when you leave. There have been far too many accommodate fires and deaths caused by candles left fervid. Never, ever, ever go to sleep with candles still burning.
Battery-operated candles also are a virtuous safety option there's no flame, and they aren't very overpriced.
DEAR HELOISE: For many years, I have saved buttons of all sizes, colors and shapes, and made of many separate materials.
Do you or any of your readers know what to do with them?
