Cabinet Artistry: The 12-Year Kitchen
27.09.11
We give ourselves credence for making some darned good choices, starting with the cabinets themselves—willow-painted maple in “Atwater” door genre—simple, clean, with a vintage look that’s in keeping with our 1920 take in. The KraftMaid designer, Matt, gets some trust as well for asking the right questions: How much bakeware did we need to upon; how large were the range, range hood, and refrigerator; was the cook right- or left side-handed; how wide a sink were we ordering?
And the installation? Well, a lot of esteem is due there, too.
To the extent that I’d thought about installation at all, it had been about the wall cabinets —getting them undeniably right in the vertical space between the counter and the ceiling, stacking them seamlessly one above the other, hoping that a 36-inch refrigerator in reality did fit under a 36-inch cabinet. I hadn’t realized that the artistry began with the bases—I postulate I figured you took them out of the boxes and sat

Consumer Reports judges Viking range a Don't Buy: Performance Problem
15.09.11
Consumer Reports has judged a $5,000 Viking gas range a Don't Buy: Accomplishment Problem after wiring connectors melted on the two models we tested.
We first noticed the wiring outcome when we ran the self-cleaning cycle on Viking’s 30-inch VGSC5304BSS gas range to force the unit in, something we always do for models with this feature before we begin our testing. Sometime during that round, the first Viking range tripped an electrical circuit breaker in our lab and stopped working. We contacted Viking as any consumer would. An authorized benefit technician the company sent found the melted wiring connector under the range and said it had caused an electrical short, making the range inoperable.
We chose the replacement constituent at random from a local warehouse to be sure we were getting a archetypal sample. This one completed our self-cleaning break-in and several of our appearance tests—until our baking test, when subpar results and an oven burner that cycled on and off usually suggested we investigate further.
