Food Saver - Kitchen Appliances

How long do packaged items from a Food Saver stay packaged and airtight?

Please only reply if you own a Food Saver.

Once an item is vacuumed, assuming you did it properly, how long does that notice stay airtight in the plastic casing? I vacuumed some non perishables and method on keeping them in the plastic for years to age them, but they need to be without air.

Has anyone ever vacuumed something with a Food Saver in the clayey sleeves and kept an item for months or years? If so, how great until air leaked into the bag, if ever?

Thank you!

Hypothesis it all depends on what you packed!

Hello. I desire to start compensatory hatchery fish that i take captive. I dont have much wealthy. I was pensive about getting the handi vac for $20 dollars. i separate it cant be hardened to lay items for months. but what if i exactly redo the vacuum every so often? I requisite to nurture fish from freezer char. im pleased, to go through $150 for the food saver. I would also be avid to buy off variety. I identify nothing about this furniture so and suggestion would be marvellous. Credit you for your in good time always. i utilized to have a secondary base food saver for when i was frezzeing veg, fish and food it did the pint-sized amout i was doing a 2/3 dozen or so fish a week as i in use accustomed to to smoke fish back in scotland but i couldnt call to account the food saver it did its job even remembrances it was a for a song item .it did take a brief getting tolerant of to but onces i mastered it it was superior prospering to be getting myself one willingly nothing beats the repayment of fascinating your own dinner but i will assent to its gambler most recent but its always worthwhile to have some in the frezzer for a later escort I have tempered to the Foodsaver kind for about 9 years now. I take a excursion to AK per year, and bundle off the vac packer in my bags. We seal up the filets (Sockeye and Halibut), peg them at the bungalow, and up them internal in coolers. Works gigantic. BUT....I have to say, vac'ing for 4 to six people evry year takes a toll on the packer. In 9 years we have gone through 4 of them. The "sportsman" models restrain up the pre-eminent. If all you are thriving to do is a few fish a week, one of the smaller units will sate. the Halibut I bundle well keeps well for over a year, but salmon is too saponaceous, and gets funky way sooner. I wouldn't try keeping a trout longer than 4 to 6 months. I conform with rickf. I'd sooner eat my shoes than a stocked trout! I have in use accustomed to my Trick Saver Pro for 8 years with no quandary. It is trusty that the pumps are made...

This is my more recent Foodsaver Practised II The first was a mock-up where you had to squeeze down to constitute the closure, so I made too much capital and unambiguous to go for this one more late-model. I had the first five or six years, I have this one since 1998. So I have a news with Tilia / Foodsaver. This is my favorite appliance, bar none, one, I can not do without in my clan.

I can not footnote on the seal oppose, but from what I've seen and skim this seal is the richest, butIt is extent priceless. In the dream of run hundreds of dollars in spoiled food can set apart. I over recall it's quality the bills. If you buy the Contend with bags or rolls and use it with this mechanism, go for it. I always get the Foodsaver rolls through the box and get a overlook in this way.

I thirst to excuse about the extreme gob jar sealing. Foodsaver If you devote oneself to the instructions that will in all likelihood not seal the jars correctly. They are very unequivocal to theUse jars and tops. You scarcity new, modern glassware tops, Nautical galley, or let it immerse in boiling ring false for about five minutes to start to dry and soften the rubber seal. You can only part of the canning jar buy "dome lids canning measure out of any outlet, for no simoleons, like $ 1.29 for a box of 12 I have verbatim dozens of unconventional sizes of off the mark aperture jars to my pantrySealed with my Foodsaver Pro II, and if I supersede his instructions, the seals forever. You can also use these jars in sizes from one cup to two liters. This is the subdue way to release fat by Foodsaver – Reuse jars and lids again and again! Unfavourable to what has been written, are undemanding to available – you take a spoon, playing under the uptight, and debilitate the seal. I do not see what so vigorously about it.
