Admittedly, their reasons are different from mine, which nurture toward the temporary paralysis that's often a symptom of dining in this vexing warren of noodle shops, pho parlors and dive houses. The countless eateries, lined spine-to-barbule like books on a library shelf, is a game of culinary Minesweeper. Some are peerless, some are shitty and the majority dwell in the limbo between. Experimentation is hazardous business in Chinatown, which is why I wind up at the same places (Shiao Lan Kung, Nan Zhou) over and over again.
So it was with excessive trepidation I entered Red Kings, sandwiched on Race between pastry and loveliness supply shops. This unassuming storefront looks no abundant from its neighbors: crimson awning, neon "open" put one's John Hancock on, posters of bubble tea and dumplings tacked to the plate-sun-glasses window. But what would await on the other side of the door? Moving Chinese cooking or perfumed, sticky slop? The lady or the tiger?
Meat slicer, steel table stolen from Blairsville-Saltsburg High ...
A meat slicer worth $4,500 and a $700 stainless steel table were stolen from Blairsville-Saltsburg High School in Conemaugh, according to state police at Indiana.
The theft occurred between Jan. 8 and Jan. 13. The items were stolen from a new kitchen in the high school, police said.
Anyone with information about the case has been asked to call the state police at 724-357-1960.
