Apple Peeler Corer Slicer - Food Slicers

I am looking for a recipe to make fruit snacks using the apple peels and jello?

I was told that there was a way to make fruit snacks using the peels that remain when using Pampered Chef's apple peeler corer slicer and jello? Does any one know? Thanks!

I'm tapped. I've been looking for this recipe for some time and haven't come up with snacks using the peel. What I did find was:

Candied Apples
Peel and slice an apple (red works best), sprinkle with strawberry Jell-O or cherry, or try a different kind of Jell-O. Sometimes my children just enjoy dipping the apple slices into the Jell-O.

I suppose based on this last comment, you could dip the peels in jell-o as well. You might also dredge the peels in jell-o and dehydrate them, either in a food dehydrater or a slow oven. Sounds good to me!!

Hold the presses! I think I found it (and no so different from my dehydrator suggestion above):

Gummy Worms made at home!
Oct 23 '02

The Bottom Line OOoo! Worms?!?! Yes, yummy worms!

By popular request, I am posting a recipe I have been handed from unknown sources on how to make homemade Gummy Worms. This is in response to my review of the Pampered Chef Apple Peeler/Corer/Slicer, and what to do with your leftover apple peel.

So without further ado...

"Gummy Worms"

After peeling apple with Apple Peeler Corer Slicer throw the moist peels in a zip lock bag and pour in your favorite flavor of DRY jello (do not use sugar free). Shake until peels are well coated.

Lay them out on a flat stone and bake at 250 degree for 30 - 45 minutes (depending on the amount of peels).

I have also heard that you need to only bake them for 15-20 minutes.

I plan to make some soon, so I will let you know how it goes for me. If you do try it, let me know how it goes for you, and I'll add it to this review!

Good luck, and peel more apples and eat more worms!

Let me start out by saying that it is not this TYPE of peeler which I don’t like, but this particular peeler. I have used three different types of these peelers: one of these (The Pampered Chef Apple Peeler/corer/slicer) from probably 12 years ago that is now getting dull, one of these (Progressive International Apple Peeler and Corer) that I bought recently, and the one being reviewed here.

First, I’ll give my review of these types of peelers generally, and then I’ll move on to the specifics of this one.

These peelers are handy. I do a lot of chunky applesauce, and the peeling/coring/slicing (especially the slicing) is very handy. They do have their problems, though: – You have to be careful about the coring, just like with any corer. Apples aren’t all alike, and it’s a little hard to make sure that you have the apple on the prongs straight. So you have to make sure (if you’re not using a food mill at some later point) that you cut out whatever little bits of core are left. – The machine always misses some peel around the stem and blossom ends of the apple. It is trickier to remove the peel from the apple manually once the apple has been sliced.

Mormons Going Veggie: Potato through an Apple Peeler-Slicer-Corer

Yes, that's a (sweet) potato in an apple peeler/slicer/corer. I'm making "Double Potato Soup" from Leanne Ely's Saving Dinner and I couldn't find a vegetable peeler in my kitchen to save my life. Then I noticed that potatoes--aka pommes de terre --are as solid and thin-skinned as apples. And I've easily peeled and sliced some 15 pounds of apples for Thanksgiving pies, using a handcranked apple peeler-slicer-corer. I was going to pull back the slicer/corer blade and only peel tonight's potatos, when I realized I needed the potatoes cut for soup anyway.

Say, brother, can you dice a dog for me? SANDRA SNYDER WALL TO WALL Speaking of apples (ahem), an apple corer-peeler-slicer. Six points. Six more if yours is engraved with “Pampered Chef.” That puts you 12 points on your way to 100 (which is where you fit out to join me in intervention). But I'm not judging you.
