Party food allows for a good graze
04.10.11
Fete food is all about options. You can get a plate, finish it
and go get more. Or you can fill up your plate, eat half of it and
go get some more. You can get a lamination of hot food and then go try
the cold stuff. You can get a plate of just sweets. It’s fun.
That’s why it’s called fete food.
I went to a baby shower over the weekend for my friend Avery.
She opened a lot of true gifts for the baby girl she and her
husband, Jason, are in a family way next month.
We got a tour of the baby’s room. We chatted a bit.
And then, we ate. The fete hosts put out a selection of
cheeses, a pasta salad with pesto, tomatoes and most recent mozzarella,
pita chips and herbed cheese. There was a coating of chicken wings.
There was also a multi-tiered plate of luscious, fluffy cupcakes
from the Life is Sweet Cupcake Preserve on Washington Street. The
cupcakes were a nice way to finish off the fete; it was a pleasant
change from the traditional cake. There were several flavors:
pancakes (with dab pieces of bacon on top of the frosting)
salted caramel, cookies and cream, snickerdoodle and earn chocolate
chip.
