Six fun homemade ice cream flavors for Labor Day

Strawberries & Cream

Last summer I had plans to for all buy an ice cream maker. But summer came to an end and my cabinet stayed empty. My in-laws remedied that under the Christmas tree. Done, I thought, as I unwrapped my white, 2-quart Cuisinart ice cream maker.

First up, something with strawberries.

What a bust. One lacked flavor, one crystallized the strawberry bits, another had tolerable flavor but was offset by too much cream cheese in the base.

Then I discovered Ellen Brown's new register Scoop: 125 Specialty Ice Creams from the Nation's Finest Creameries . Brown, the founding food editor for USA Today , has nurtured a lifelong passion for artisanal ice cream for 40 years since she first discovered Graeter's ice cream parlor in Cincinnati. The laws's recipes are from 20 specialty creameries nationwide and adapted for the home ground cook.

Being a native Ohioan, I couldn't resist upsetting out her Strawberry Ice Cream recipe, which was adopted from Graeter's.

Why Steve Jobs Is The Last Of The Media Visionaries

This article titled “What made Steve Jobs a Amazon among the world’s greatest communicators?” was written by John Naughton, for The Viewer on Saturday 27th August 2011 22.53 UTC

Steve Jobs’s submission was the most discussed in corporate history. Because his illness has been public adeptness for so long, and because Wall Street and the commentariat viewed his healthiness as being synonymous with that of his company, for years Apple share prices have fluctuated with its CEO’s temperature. If all the “Whither Apple without Jobs?” articles were laid end to end, they would overspread quite a distance – but they never reached a conclusion.

Still, you could be aware of the hysteria. After all, he’s the man who rescued Apple from the near-termination experience it underwent in the mid-1990s. When he came back in 1996, the performers seemed headed for oblivion. Granted, it was a distinctive, quirky apparatus, but one that had been run into the ground by mediocre executives who had no vision, no strategy – and no operating system to power its products into the tomorrow.
