Excalibur 3900 Deluxe Series 9 Tray Food Dehydrator – White

Excalibur 3900 Deluxe Series 9 Tray Food Dehydrator The 3900 Deluxe Series is a 9-Tray food dehydrator that is great for families that love eating healthy! Drying food is fun! The Excalibur Dehydrator allows you to dry anything evenly and efficiently. The unit can dry all fruits, vegetables, meats, and more! Make fruit leathers and home-made jerky – FRESH! The Excalibur has a trademarked horizontal-airflow drying system which dries foods perfectly evenly on all the trays. Dehydrating is a great way to add a new way of consuming foods without damaging valuable nutrients which may be lost during high heat cooking! Dried foods are a great treat to snack on because they hold almost all of their nutritional value and flavor. This unit differs from other dehydrators because of its unique horizontal drying system in the rear of the unit. This provides a sure way to provide an even dehydration process as the warm air removes moisture and is pushed out the front of the machine. There is also no need to rotate trays because of the horizontal drying. Includes instruction manual with over 50 recipes!

Excalibur 3900 Deluxe Series 9 Tray Food Dehydrator – White

I purchased my White 9 tray Excalibur 3000 series 2 years ago and I’m so very pleased that I did!

I purchased it directly from Excaliber and not through Amazon or any of its third party sellers. At the time, Excaliber/KBI direct was the only way to purchase the 3000 series white model but the price was good, shipping free, the service excellent ~ plus, and a big plus with me, a free 10 year warranty!

As it is quite a large(but light-weight)appliance, the white is less imposing than the black model in my small white kitchen. It has worked exceedingly well to meet the requirements of my raw vegan diet. It did get a lot of use the first year that I had it, more so then than now. I have been eating less dehydrated food so don’t use it as often as I first did but still I find it easy to use and handy when I do need a dehydrator and I’m glad to have one.

My mother got me hooked on dried persimmons, but she passed away last year, so since I have a couple of persimmon trees I decided to try making some dried persimmons of my own. We made a ton of them and the great thing about this dryer is that there is quite a bit of room so we can make a fairly large quantity in each batch. We used most of our persimmons to make jam and still had enough persimmons to dry about five batches - it's amazing how many persimmons you get from two trees! We look forward to trying it with tomatoes and some of the other fruit from our garden next year. The only real problem we had was that the lid pushed the trays into the safety screen which rubbed against the fan making the most annoying buzz - probably wasn't too good for the fan either. There isn't any way to adjust the height of the fan, so I used some pliers (took three attempts) and bent the screen so it's a little more square instead of rounded, and it is much better. Even so if you push the door closed too far - BUZZZ! The manual suggests you can use this thing when making bread to create a warm spot for the dough to rise so I tried it, but it's a rather impractical suggestion. The dehydrator fan runs whenever it's on so it's noisy even if it isn't buzzing and I think it wastes energy to leave it running for hours while bread rises -- better to warm the oven and stick the dough in there to rise (just my opinion). As it is quite a large(but light-weight)appliance, the white is less imposing than the black model in my small white kitchen. It has worked exceedingly well to meet the requirements of my raw vegan diet. It did get a lot of use the first year that I had it, more so then than now. I have been eating less dehydrated food so don't use it as often as I first did but still I find it easy to use and handy when I do need a dehydrator and I'm glad to have one. My only problem, and it's a minor one, is the noise. It is not especially quiet but I still give it 5 stars. I have remedied the problem easily enough by simply moving it to another room when I am dehydrating an item that requires a longer drying period, such as the tomatoes I'm dehydrating right now which have been drying for 3 days at low temperature.
